RiceLein
Complementary feed for horses
Energy balancer - without conventional grain starch
RiceLein is a low-glycaemic energy balancer to enhance low-energy rations. Instead of starch sources, easily fermentable fibres and rice bran provide quickly available energy. The gastrointestinal protective properties of linseed make it particularly suitable for horses with a sensitive gastrointestinal tract. Due to the reduction of starch and sugar, it can also be fed to horses with muscle problems such as PSSM, MIM and tying up or horses with PPID (= Pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction, formerly Equine Cushing Syndrome). As RiceLein is not additionally mineralised, it is suitable as a combination to any basic feed.
- Gluten-free, reduced starch and sugar content, with high energy density
- For gentle weight gain in hard-keepers and for sport horses with high energy requirements
- Suitable for horses with muscle problems, digestive disorders and stomach sensitivity
ENERGY SUPPLIER FOR SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
There are situations in which horses are dependent on a low-starch and low-sugar feed. These include not only grain intolerances, a tendency to hyperacidity and stomach problems, but also metabolic and muscle problems that can be triggered or exacerbated by the intake of rations that are too rich in starch. These include polysaccharide storage myopathy (PSSM) and the different variants of the muscle integrity myopathy (MIM, also known as "PSSM2"). PSSM and MIM are disorders of muscle metabolism caused by genetic defects. Horses show a clinical appearance similar to tying up. The symptoms range from repeated irregularities in gait (without orthopaedic problems) to muscle tremors, reluctance to move, muscle stiffness, sweating and even immobility. Horses affected by PSSM or MIM are absolutely dependent on appropriate feeding and husbandry management, as otherwise they can only be ridden to a limited extent or not at all. The change in feeding is of particular importance, as a low starch and low sugar diet is recommended. The combination of fermentable fibres, oilseeds and cereal germs offers the optimal supplement to the hay ration.
Low-starch and low-sugar feeding is also recommended for horses with gastrointestinal problems in order to protect the gastrointestinal tract.
FOR FEEDING ALL HARD-KEEPERS
Healthy horses that are dependent on an additional energy source during intensive training phases are built up with RiceLein in a way that is gentle on the metabolism. This is especially true for sport horses with high performance requirements; here the training level determines the additional energy requirement.
Hard-keeping leisure and lean horses can be gently built up again if RiceLein supplements the previous ration. Due to its easily digestible components, it is particularly useful for lean older horses that are dependent on an additional low-starch energy source due to metabolic disorders such as PPID.
