FAECAL WATER – A PROBLEM WITH MANY CAUSES
Free faecal water is a particular problem for horse and horse owner. The causes are often manifold. Bacterial and viral pathogens, untreated infections with intestinal parasites, but also jaw and dental problems can cause free faecal water. Factors such as social status, stress management and psychological stress should also be considered as triggers. Feed intolerances should also not be disregarded in connection with faecal water. Horses are particularly sensitive to faecal water and diarrhoea in the autumn and winter months when they are switched from pasture to hay feeding and to contaminated basic and concentrated feed. Both basic feed and bedding can be contaminated with harmful bacteria or fungi due to faulty fermentation or incorrect storage. These organisms produce toxic metabolic products (e.g. mycotoxins, biogenic amines). Their degradation takes place via the liver and is highly stressful for this organ, which can sooner or later lead to severe disorders of the digestive and detoxification metabolism. Therefore, liver problems and intestinal inflammation often go hand in hand. Because of the complexity of the problem of faecal water, the administration of medicinal charcoal, psyllium or clay minerals, for example, only leads to success in limited cases. It is precisely these complex relationships that have been taken into account in the composition of the individual components in the Robusan intestinal bar from St. Hippolyt® .

BIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES OF THE PLANTS
The Robusan intestinal bar contains the combined knowledge of 30 years of experience with the beneficial effects of herbs and spices. There are numerous scientific results and publications on this and the products based on this research are now leading in animal nutrition. As a result, our innovative Robusan intestinal bar was developed. The interaction of bioactive components promotes a physiological intestinal microbiome and also systematically stimulates digestion and metabolism. Carefully selected herbs and spices provide support in cases of stomach problems, faecal water and digestive disorders and also strengthen the nervous system in cases of restlessness and nervousness. The tannins contained "impregnate" the intestinal mucosa and thus make it more difficult for pathogenic germs to adhere. Due to the digestive stimulating, relaxing and calming properties, the complex composition offers your horse a holistic approach for a balanced microbiome.

HEALTH-PROMOTING HERBS AND SPICES
The beneficial effects of herbs and spices have been known to mankind since ancient times. The variety of bioactive ingredients (plant secondary metabolites) makes a health-promoting and supportive contribution to the nutrition of humans and animals. In addition, plant secondary metabolites stimulate the body's own defences in the fight against parasites and support, regenerate and maintain both the immune system, detoxification organs and the intestinal microbiome after a conventional worming cure. Nature offers a rich supply of herbs and spices. The challenge is to find the right choice and the optimal dosage according to the ailments.

NATURE'S TREASURE CHEST
An imbalance in the gastrointestinal tract can have various causes (e.g. stress, food intolerances, infection) and manifest in different ways (e.g. diarrhoea, stomach cramps, irritable bowel syndrome). Herbs and plants with a high content of tannins and bitter compounds are particularly effective in providing gentle relief in such cases.
An imbalance in the gastrointestinal tract can have various causes (e.g. stress, intolerances, infection) and manifest itself in different ways (e.g. diarrhoea, stomach cramps, irritable bowel syndrome). Herbs and plants with a high content of tannins and bitter substances offer gentle support. For gastrointestinal complaints, the use of caraway and fennel has proven effective. The secondary plant compounds they contain relax the intestinal muscles and have anti-inflammatory properties. They also stimulate the secretion of saliva and digestive juices and thus support the metabolism of food. Genuine galangal is also valued for its stomach-strengthening, digestion-stimulating and antispasmodic effects. It also contains complex plant tannins, which can change the surface tension in such a way that harmful bacteria find it more difficult to adhere to the intestinal mucosa.

Terpenes are responsible for the soothing and relaxing smell of moss, resin and conifers. These secondary constituents serve as communication signals for the plant and are responsible for the diverse taste and scent in the plant world and are produced in the leaves, bark and roots of the plants. Today, more than 8,000 different terpenes are known. Then as now, terpenes are said to have a variety of beneficial properties. For example, pinene is said to relieve muscle cramps and reduce a feeling of fullness, fenchone promotes gastrointestinal peristalsis and myristicin is digestive and antispasmodic.
In addition to their function as flower pigments, flavonoids are also of great importance in plant defence (parasites, pathogens). A large number of the known flavonoids (~8,000) are said to have antioxidant, circulation-promoting and anti-inflammatory effects. Flavonoids are also said to have vitalising and mood-lifting properties and to have an antispasmodic effect on gastrointestinal complaints.

At the first signs of faecal water:
Large horse: Two bars per day until the digestive situation has normalised. Then continue with one bar per day until the carton is used up.
Small horses and ponies: One bar per day until the digestive situation has normalised. Then continue with ½ bar per day until the carton is used up.

In case of already longer existing faecal water problems, an extension of the cure or an additional intestinal rehabilitation with Brandon® plus gastrointestinal.
